On the 27th of January we held our annual Timken Award ceremony. It was quite a night, there was a wonderful buffet, the alcohol was flowing, and we were all dressed up ready for a night of glamour and fun.
The preparations for this night started weeks earlier when we were asked to place our votes in a number of categories which included most creative team member and funniest resident. It was a lot of fun, some categories were extremely difficult to judge, others such as loudest team member were obvious.
The awards ceremony itself was a spectacular event, the room was decked out in gold and red, and everyone looked wonderful, it’s been a while since I got really dressed up, it felt very special. Our manager Amanda presented some of the awards, she was a natural and you could see how proud she was of her team and the event they had put together. Amanda then handed over to the lifestyle manager Helen. Helen handed out awards for hard work, for compassion and so much more, there was even an award for the team member who smiles the most. It really was so much fun. I’ve been to a lot of events in my lifetime but never an award ceremony, it was everything I’d hoped it would be. It was a long night but even so, we were disappointed when it had to come to an end.
The last two years have been tough on everyone, and care workers have had to work incredibly hard, the team here have looked after us so well, they have been creative and inventive, caring and kind and at times brave. It is our unanimous opinion that they all deserve an award.
