What Our Clients/Residents Say

This is a small selection of the hundreds of complimentary messages we receive each year.

N R (Daughter of resident)

Very comfortable surroundings
We had a very positive experience right from our initial enquiry with the manager. She took the time to discuss and fully understand our mother's potential care needs. Recently our mother transitioned from hospital to Marham House Care Home and this was handled seamlessly. The manager, together with her team of carers and the lifestyle team, were able to understand and adapt very quickly to our mother's needs to ensure she felt welcomed and at ease. In a very short period of time they were patiently, competently and intuitively able to ensure that our mother felt safe, understood, listened to and respected. Our mother has been encouraged and able to engage in some of her former hobbies in very comfortable and appealing surroundings and we have noticed a wonderful upswing in her vitality and positivity. Nothing is ever too much trouble and there are a variety of daily activities on offer including a hairdresser and movie nights which have also enhanced our mother's well being.

Hazel End was the stand out choice
During lockdown mum's dementia had progressed and we were not equipped to take care of her any longer. It was a heart-breaking and frightening decision to place Mum in full-time care. During the pandemic, it was impossible to conduct thorough tours of homes and we had to rely on this site, the CQC website and each home’s website to see reviews, pictures/videos of the environment to make decisions. Hazel End was the stand out choice - their website and social media presence gave a real insight into life at the home as the team there are absolutely wonderful and Mum was made to feel very welcome. The facilities are so clean and homely. The team are well trained and versed in risk assessment and management. Their activities are exceptional, the nutrition is quality and the communication invaluable. We can't thank them enough for everything they did for Mum during her 4-month stay, they felt like extended family. In short, Hazel End sets the expected standard for other homes to be measured against.

Hazel End is a lovely friendly community
The staff at Hazel End have worked hard to successfully settle my dad into their care. My dad had suffered considerable trauma over a short period and they have looked after both his physical and mental health, while caring for him while living with dementia. Hazel End is a lovely friendly community with great entertainment and the residents are treated like family members. All the staff are lovely and helpful, nothing is too much bother. My dad’s room is luxurious, he has an en-suite shower room with a patio door to the outside rear garden. He appreciates the large TV in his room and the staff are more than happy to find him programmes that he likes or set the football up on his iPad. As a keen gardener, Dad has been able to get out into the garden to tend the plants and remove weeds, ready for some summer bedding plants. I am so grateful to the team at Hazel End, they’ve supported us as a family at a very difficult time.

A delightful evening
A most enjoyable evening (Oscars award night), well planned and all the hard work it required ensured it went well. Enjoyed by all present, all the recipients were worthy winners. I hope the applause also told them how much we, the residents, appreciate all their hard work and dedication. A delightful evening rivalling anything Hollywood can do.

The care and kindness she received knew no bounds
My mother was a resident at Timken Grange for 20-months. Her care during that time was consistently excellent, there were some issues around laundry, but these were always resolved pleasantly and swiftly. My mother had vascular dementia and gradually deteriorated becoming more unwell. During the last few weeks of her life, the care and kindness she received knew no bounds. The staff team were absolutely incredible and helped to make her last few weeks as easy as possible for both her and us the family. If I was dying and I couldn’t be looked after at home, I would move into this home, providing it was still the same staff. The only bump in the road came from some of the nurses who came from outside the home to treat my mother, and some of them did not listen to the care staffs’ request re medication, which I found difficult, as the care staff were with mother 24-hours a day, not just coming in for 20 minutes each day. I cannot recommend this home highly enough!

Good to feel safe, cared for and treated with respect.
I used this care home for respite after a nasty fall. I found it a very helpful and pleasant 2-week stay. Kind, cheerful and helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Pleasant, bright rooms, nicely decorated and furnished. Friends and relatives always made welcome, cleanliness good. Activities got me joining in, I loved the whole experience.

Beautiful cosy home atmosphere
We were made very welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Very friendly staff and more than happy to accommodate our mother's needs. We did not hesitate that this would be a very safe and caring home. After spending a lot of time worrying about finding the right home Marham has exceeded our expectations.

My husband always seems happy
In the extremely trying circumstances of the Covid pandemic, I think the staff have gone out of their way to facilitate visiting relatives to see their family members. My husband always seems happy and very well looked after, and the carers are always cheerful and very helpful. It cannot be easy for them.

We are very pleased to have personal contact with the Lifestyle coordinators
My 98-year-old mother was transferred to Hazel End in July 2020 in the midst of the current pandemic. This move between care homes was unexpected but the management team at Hazel End completed the transition efficiently and with care and consideration despite the difficulties incurred by the government guidelines and my mother’s current stage of Dementia. We have struggled with communication at times as my mother has sight and hearing impairment and unfortunately, there are often issues with good connection on Zoom and Skype. This often gives rise to frustration for my mother and family members who are unable to visit her under normal circumstances. We are very pleased to have personal contact with the Lifestyle coordinators and this does allow us to keep in close contact with my mother’s day to day activities and general well being which she appears to enjoy. We have regular updates from management and are regularly informed of any changes in her care plan.

The quality of the care given is excellent
The quality of the care given by the staff is excellent. Mum is well looked after, and her complex medication is always delivered on time. If I phone with a question, there is always someone available to speak to me and deal with any concerns. The staff have made it possible for visits in these difficult times, providing a perspex screen in the garden room, thank you.

Hazel End is one of the finest homes I have ever had the pleasure to visit
I have visited many care homes in my previous career as a hairdresser and beautician, Hazel End is one of the finest homes I have ever had the pleasure to visit, I volunteer occasionally and do residents nails etc. I am always made to feel very welcome, the management and staff are second to none, so professional kind and caring, it's wonderful to see the ladies and gents who live there looking so happy and often enjoying activities and being entertained, even in these difficult times they have had socially distanced entertainment outside in their lovely garden. The food always smells and looks delicious and the building is always cleaned to an excellent standard. Sadly I no longer have my parents but if I did and they needed residential care this would be my first choice, I would highly recommend Hazel End to anyone looking for a home from home for their loved one.

I know that he is well looked after all the time
Dad moved in for a couple of weeks at the start of COVID to keep him safe, no one knew that it would go on for so long. It has been a relief that he decided to stay at Hazel End permanently and I know that he is well looked after all the time - it has taken a great strain off of me as his main carer during such a difficult year. I think the procedures for visitors is great and I can’t wait to be able to get back to normal and be able to spend time with Dad in a more normal situation - I know we will be welcomed in as soon as it is safe.

We cannot fault the care and support
My father spent four weeks in Hazel End Care Home for respite care after spending a few weeks in the hospital. We cannot fault the care and support for my father and for us as a family from the management as well as the staff we came into contact with. He is now in his own home, a stronger person thanks to his care. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hazel End Care Home to anyone, and certainly, if my father needed either more respite care or indeed a permanent stay in a care home, Hazel End would be our first choice.

The care provided by the staff was first class
Mum was the third resident at Hazel End and as such settling in, could have been awkward, however, this was not the case. The care provided by the staff was first class and has remained of the highest level. one of the hardest things to do, is making the decision of where a loved one will spend their final years. I am pleased to say we could not have chosen more wisely. the facility itself is fantastic and only bettered by the staff that care for mum.

The care home have gone the extra mile
My mum has been in Timken Grange since January 2020. Having been a challenging year with COVID 19, the staff have always been approachable, helpful and very understanding throughout this period of time. We have found it very hard since March with COVID and not being able to visit at the beginning with the first lockdown, but the care home have gone the extra mile to make it possible for secure visit’s to take place so we can see our mum/nan, I can honestly say if I ever needed reassurance about my mum the staff were always on hand 24hrs a day. The staff and the lifestyle team have been wonderful, positive and cheerful throughout. We as a family just wanted my mum to be cared for, respected and looked after. And the home has excelled themselves. And we are looking forward as a family to being able to visit soon and have lunch/tea with her in 2021.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming
Dad was discharged to Kingfisher Court from hospital during the first week of lockdown - from the initial call in March to date my impression of the home hasn't changed. The care of the residents is excellent. The staff are committed and care deeply. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff go above and beyond to ensure residents enjoy the best experience. I do not hesitate to share our experience when asked my opinion - Kingfisher Court is the best! Only the best is good enough for my dad, and we have it!

heartfelt thanks for the incredible help
My family friend came to the home in March. It is with heartfelt thanks for the incredible help, care and kindness the whole team showed her. Especially during her end of life care, even in the most difficult of circumstances with the COVID pandemic, we were able to visit in a safe way to say goodbye. The staff and management are outstanding. They really went above and beyond. It gave us great comfort to know she was comfortable and well cared for in her final days. I cannot recommend the home enough.

The staff really care about the residents
I have regularly helped out with a number of things within the care home. Whilst I have not been in the home since March, I would not hesitate to recommend the home. During my normal work, I have stayed in many hotels both in this country and abroad. I have to say that the quality of the rooms, lounge areas and other areas equals the hotels that I have visited and in some cases, the home is nicer. I have observed the staff interacting with the residents and have the feeling of a homely environment. There always seems to be activities going on with plenty of smiles and laughter. The staff seem to really care about the residents and it seems more than a job for them. Whilst I have never had a meal at the home there is always homemade cake on offer and if this is anything to go by the food will be excellent. Sadly, I always seem to just miss the lemon drizzle cake. In summary a beautiful building with caring staff and a jovial atmosphere.

My aunt loved her room and the food
My Aunt moved into Westhill Park on Monday, February 24th. She settled in very well, she loved her room and the food. She said the staff were very kind and helpful. On April 15th she developed a chest infection and was to be tested for COVID-19. She was admitted to hospital on April 25th and sadly died on the 27th of COVID-19. I'm sure the staff did all they could and we are only sorry that she didn't have more time to enjoy herself at Westhill Park.

Remarkable care home
We as a family are delighted to share our findings for the remarkable care home Timken. We recently placed my Mother-in-law within their care and are completely bowled over with how splendid it is. Mum was reluctant to give up her own home initially and with the warm welcome and support of the magnificent staff, the transition has been painless. The staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that Mum has settled in despite restrictions of COVID. It is a dazzling beacon of wonderfulness with delicious and nutritious food even a glass of wine if wanted. It is immaculate and high-quality fittings to all rooms. An abundance of activities that are personalised to Mum. Hairdressers on site. GP just across the car park. A cinema, and so the list goes on. If you are looking to find the ultimate care package for a loved one, please stop and look at this one, it has it all.

Timken Grange stands head and shoulders above the rest
Having extensive experience visiting relatives in other care homes, Timken Grange stands head and shoulders above the rest. The staff show such compassion for residents and from the first moment I visited, I was struck by the sound of laughter. During the recent pandemic, I have been in awe of the team, going above and beyond to keep our loved ones safe, working tirelessly under enormous pressure. With visiting not possible, the team installed new technology and increased communications with families, doing everything they can to keep us in touch with loved ones, and them with the outside world. The Lifestyle Team are ingenious in their invention of activities designed to entertain the residents – this didn’t stop during the pandemic, they just had to think more creatively! When we can visit safely again, I look forward to joining my cousin for lunch or tea – Timken has lots of cosy corners for private conversations and guests are always made to feel welcome.

Thank you Timken Grange
During the COVID-19 period, the staff at the home have all remained positive, cheerful and have worked to the very best standards to make my mother's continued stay enjoyable and fulfilled. They have worked to keep my mum informed, occupied, interested and cared for as well as doing their very best to keep her safe from infection. They have used IT to keep us in touch and to continue to deliver some of the activities. Thank you to all.

Amazing Team's Professionalism
Mum has lived at Layston Grove for 2 years. The care she receives is consistently excellent in all aspects; most especially because of the caring, as well as the care she is given. However, in these extraordinary times, when Covid 19 is touching all our lives, and where our loved ones at Layston Grove are some of the most vulnerable members of society, the staff have risen to the challenge, and more. In fact, they have gone above and beyond to plan ahead and prioritise keeping their residents safe and well, with sensitivity and compassion and also with their usual cheerfulness. Take a look at the lockdown video 'reach for the stars ' for an example of Layston Grove's feel-good factor! What a dedicated team of unsung heroes, who will tell you it's their wonderful residents who give them the incentive to rise to this challenge. This amazing team's professionalism, commitment, dedication and positive outlook are outstanding and the reassurance and comfort this gives our family means everything to us.

The staff sre lovely
Mum has been generally well cared for since she arrived at the home over a year ago. The staff are lovely and seem to genuinely care about the residents. The food is amazing, and we have always been welcome to have lunch as a family with Mum, which has been great and has meant the grandchildren can also come and visit, having lunch in a private room. The only time we have had a slight concern has been due to a seemingly smaller than ideal ratio of staff to residents and this has only been on occasions. There have been particular carers who seem to go above and beyond their duty to make mum feel comfortable and included, and we are so grateful to them. During the Covid epidemic, we have been reassured that all the carers are wearing face masks and they have done a great job providing activities to keep everyone entertained - it is lovely to see the updates on Facebook.

The staff have gone over and above
I have been impressed by the quality of provision at Layston Grove since it opened and this has continued since the Covid pandemic. From the outset, the management and staff of the home were proactive in keeping residents safe and stopped visiting before other homes did. Since then staff have gone over and above in protecting my Aunt and providing a full programme of activities to keep her and the other residents stimulated and happy. Contact has been encouraged through phone calls, video chats and even web get-togethers.The social media page is posted almost daily, so that family and friends know what has been going on. The quality of care and support has been very good, and I am confident that has not changed. All staff have always been so welcoming, approachable and keen to help in all circumstances. Their all-inclusive policy is good value for money and makes financial planning easier. I would recommend Layston Grove to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

It has been a trying time for everyone over the last few months but the staff have been wonderful, supportive to both my mother and myself. The regular phone calls to update me are very reassuring. Mum and Dad were in the best possible place
My 97-year-old father and my 93-year-old mother have both been residents of Westhill Park since October 2019. Sadly they both tested positive for Covid-19 during April 2020 and were both very poorly. We fully understood that we were unable to visit to comfort and reassure them, which was difficult for the whole family as we have always been very close. Thanks to the outstanding levels of care from all the staff at Westhill Park, we were confident that Mum and Dad were in the best possible place throughout this difficult time. We were helped by the regular and thorough updates from the team and from the daily updates on the relative's app, which all served to give us peace of mind. Thanks to the dedication and commitment from all the care workers at Westhill Park, my parents have both now recovered from the virus, and are looking forward to family visits when the situation allows. We give our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Westhill Park for all they have done.

Great job and communication has been excellent
This care home's management of the Covid-19 situation has been impressive. Management have shown an ability to take control of the situation without apportioning blame/passing the buck, despite losing a staff member to the disease. Similarly, they have taken responsibility for their own procurement. Relatives can fully engage with family members via the phone and social media. Daily social media updates show events/activities at the home, demonstrating staffs adaptability, resilience and determination. My resident required hospitalisation during this period, Westhill did not hesitate in getting her the care she needed, and we were kept well informed of the situation at all times. Emails have been received from senior management and a video message from the CEO. We have found our very regular updates in the form of an informal chat with the lady who normally handles sales/marketing very reassuring and comforting. You're doing a great job and communication has been excellent!

It is more like a high-quality hotel
The staff at Westhill Park continue to go above and beyond what would be expected in a good care home. It is more like a high-quality hotel. The team at Westhill Park have shown their dedication
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 we have been unable to visit Mum at Westhill Park, but we have seen her every week by video call which was instigated by the home, and it’s so nice and reassuring to see Mum so happy and well cared for. They have also called us twice a week to update us on the health and well-being of Mum and if any changes have had to be made to ensure the resident's and staff safety. This has been excellent and at all times the team at Westhill Park have shown their dedication and how much they care. It is truly appreciated, especially at this worrying time. Thank you to everyone who works at the home, you have been very special.

Outstanding care
I have been very pleased with the outstanding care my mother has had during this difficult time. The Coronavirus has had devastating effects, and the Westhill staff have carried out their various jobs brilliantly. They have been so kind and caring, and totally committed to looking after the residents in a professional way. My mum has been very happy with her care, and although she didn't like isolating in her room, she understood why it was necessary. The staff have provided some great entertainment for the residents knowing how hard they must be finding the situation, not seeing their families and friends. Being able to see my mum on a video call or speak on the phone has been very reassuring. I can only say a huge thank you to the Westhill staff, every one of them, for looking after my Mother so well. Best wishes to you all and keep safe.

Keeping my Mum safe is the most important thing
This whole Covid-19 situation has been very alarming for people who have relatives in care. I could not be happier with the way in which Kingfisher Court has responded to the crisis. They locked down the home and stopped all unnecessary visits very early on in the crisis. Although this means I can't see my Mum they put in place video calls and have tried to keep the stimulation levels up for their residents. I have called the home a couple of times and they have been very responsive to my Mums needs. Keeping my Mum safe is the most important thing to me and I have no concerns about the way that Kingfisher Court has responded.

All the staff are incredibly caring
My mother became a resident at Kingfisher Court at the end of February 2020 and I found all the staff to be incredibly caring and my mother settled in very quickly. The home locked down early due to the Coronavirus pandemic and has managed so far to keep it at bay. The care and concern for each individual resident are of the highest calibre and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. When in solitary isolation the staff are constantly visiting each resident playing games and engaging them with things they like to do. My mother struggles with isolation so they have had her sat in the corridor (which is light, bright and beautifully decorated) so she gets more interaction. Anyone is lucky to be placed here as a resident and I sleep easier knowing my Mum is cared for by this amazing team.

Mum could not have been made more welcome
When Mum arrived she could not have been made more welcome. Her bed was covered with towel swans and decorative covers. A welcome basket and card from the staff was on the table. Everyone is very friendly and do their best to make her feel at home. Her pain relief has been sorted and a district nurse involved in her care on day 3! As a retired school cook, she knows what she means when she says the food is lovely! Thank you Westhill Park.

We have been very impressed
My mum moved to Westhill Park for respite care following a spell in hospital. Myself and my family have been very impressed with the wonderful care Mum is receiving. Her health and well being has improved greatly and it is a pleasure to visit her, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. It is especially nice to join her on a Wednesday for delicious cakes and coffee. There is plenty going on, activities to join in or quiet time if needed in the lovely garden room. We are so grateful that Mum is being looked after now we are unable to visit due to the coronavirus outbreak. We are assured they will do all they can to keep her safe. Our thanks to all the staff involved.

The atmosphere in the home is lovely
My mum had to have a cataract operation and because of dementia, was confused and very stressed. I was allowed to stay with her in the home before and after the operation. Cannot thank the team enough for all their dedication and outstanding care is given. The care staff are all utterly devoted to giving the residents the best possible experience, the food is exceptional served by friendly hosts, there is also a lifestyle team that encourage him to take part in some really wonderful experiences which he thoroughly enjoyed. Warm, friendly, light and spacious care home
I love this care home! So pleased we found it. Warm, friendly environment, light and spacious. All-inclusive makes so much difference - no longer all those worries of how to get Mum to the doctors etc. She loves getting her daily papers and enjoys her visits to the lovely hairdresser. Staff care about their work and make a point of getting to know the residents and spending time talking to them as well as doing all their other duties. All the management and their staff are very approachable and make time to listen to any family concerns and follow through if any action is needed. This care home is better than any I have seen before by miles.

Excellent care home
Well situated and located care home close to the hospital and also the green countryside. Light, airy and pleasant rooms and building. Good caring staff. Choice of good food. Outings and activities arranged. Staff take the time to talk to residents. Management is good and listens, acting on good suggestions. The ambience of the building and surroundings is very pleasant with good ambience and atmosphere in the care home. Excellent having on-site incorporated facilities, such as hairdressing. Residents are clean and smart and have their privacy respected. Visitors welcomed and encouraged - and also emotionally supported if necessary! Progressive care home - Excellent!

Great management and staff
My mother has been a resident at Kingfisher Court for over two years. It is much better than her previous care home despite that one having a good CQC rating. The staff are permanently employed, not agency, so they get to know the residents. The price is all in so no worries about hospital visits etc. The management and staff are very approachable as well.

Treated with great care and dignity
My father was a resident for two years, and during this time he was treated with great care and dignity. The difficult transition from home to care home was made easier by the sensitive way that the manager understood our reservations and emotions as well as reassuring Dad about his anxiety. The care home offered Dad many choices regarding meals, snack, daily newspapers, social activities and personal space. He was treated with dignity, and the staff went out of their way to liaise with the family in finding out about Dad's interests and background. My sister and I were particularly impressed by the front of house team and by the senior carers who find time to speak to us regularly about Dad's needs; particularly as he approached the end of his life. We were given excellent support after his death both in their understanding of our feelings and in offering suggestions regarding funeral arrangements. All of this exceeded our expectations and made an emotional period of time easier to cope with.

I was treated with respect and kindness by all the staff I came in contact with. If I need help in the future, I know where to go. Thank you.

Great activities
I am happy at Kingfisher Court. I can't find anything that requires improvement. I enjoy joining in with the activities when there is something I have an interest in.

Very Welcoming
Very welcoming. Met all of mum's needs - activities, monitoring weight and drink intake. Friendly and supportive. Very proactive with her health needs, taking to GP, overseeing district nurse and medicines in an expert way.

Everybody is kind, thoughtful and helpful.
The staff at Layston Grove is the thing that impresses me the most. Everybody is kind, thoughtful and helpful. The home is very welcoming, clean and warm. The facilities, if you use them, are great. It is expensive but the set price, all-inclusive is very helpful knowing exactly how much to budget for on a monthly basis.

The very best care home by far in the area
Having visited many other care homes within a 10-mile radius, this was the very best by far. My mum has settled well here when we did not expect her to. The room is spacious and spotlessly clean. The care is first class, she is treated with dignity and respect at all times. The facilities are excellent and she has even been on a few trips out. I would highly recommend this care home without any hesitation. The Home Admissions Advisor has been absolutely excellent, the service she has provided has been second to none from the moment I met her to the support she has continued to provide. The Care team, are amazing, they anticipate every need of the residents and always respond in good time. Medication is always given on time. They provide an excellent service, each and every one of them. I must also mention, the hostess, what a great job they do, constantly making sure the residents are fed and provide constant beverages. Thank you to the whole Team.

An all-round pleasant experience. At 85 if I get to the stage where I am unable to care for myself I will book into Timken Grange.

From the minute we walked in we knew that Timken Grange was right
From the minute we walked in we knew that Timken Grange was the Care Home for my 95-year-old Mother. We first visited without an appointment and were welcomed and shown around the entire Home. There were no unpleasant odours and the atmosphere was both friendly and welcoming. The residents' bedrooms are clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. The home offers a cinema room and a beautiful tea room. The food is of an extremely high standard with several choices for each meal. Everything is included in the monthly cost including taking residents for appointments, hairdressing in the home's salon, chiropody and trips organised by the wonderful activity staff. Relatives are welcome at any time and are offered complimentary drinks and meals if requested. All staff from owners, management, carers and all the support team treat residents with the utmost dignity, respect and patience and I have always been regularly contacted with any concerns. I would recommend Timken Grange without reservation.
