Meet Joy who is leaving us today after her two weeks respite stay.
Joy has been a pleasure to look after and she has had fantastic stay at Priors Hall. Joy came to us after having had a tough time which resulted in a short stay in hospital, Joy came to Priors Hall for some convalescent care before returning home. With a bit of TLC from the Priors Hall team, Joy has got herself back on her feet ready to go home. During her stay Joy has been seen by a chiropodist, visited our salon to have her hair done and enjoyed taking part in activities, so much so that she has reignited her passion for drawing after two years. As a florist herself, Joy joined in our flower arranging workshop and happily passed on some of her trade secrets.
It’s been a great pleasure to meet Joy at Priors Hall and we were delighted when Joy informed us that Priors Hall will be her first choice should she need future respite care, she may even join us permanently one day.
Joy told us “I was down in the dumps coming out of hospital, I lost a lot of confidence and was afraid of everything. My daughters needed respite from looking after me, so they looked at two places and chose Priors Hall, and I’m glad they did! I have been able to feel better gradually by staying at Priors Hall, and the carers can’t do enough, the food is fabulous and Claire the lifestyle manager has been so helpful with arranging entertainment and getting me doing things I haven’t done in such a long time.”
The feedback we have received from Joy’s family made us feel both happy and proud. Joy had previously had some respite care in another home and whilst there she wouldn’t come out of her room, she really didn’t join in with any activities, however during Joy’s stay at Priors Hall she has embraced many of the activities and opportunities to socialise, her family have been impressed with the gentle encouragement Joy received and with how much happier and healthier Joy is since arriving at Priors Hall.
We are sad to see Joy leave whilst at the same time pleased with the progress she has made, we have become such close friends, so much so that she has invited us to visit her in June in her own garden for little tea party.
