When thinking about moving into a care home there are many things to consider. One concern is around being able to continue to attend family events and parties. I didn’t want to miss out on the occasions with my family that bring me so much joy.
I need not have worried. I have not only been able to continue to attend events, I also have my own team on hand to help me to get ready.
When I got the invitation from my family inviting me to a wedding, I was overjoyed. I know that lots of weddings have been cancelled or scaled down this past year so to hear that, not only was it was going ahead but that I would be able to attend was music to my ears.
The morning of the wedding arrived and so too did my very own entourage. I felt like a film star. Zoe arrived to wash and style my hair, I later discovered that Zoe had actually come into Westhill on her day off specially to look after me. Thank you, Zoe. Kerry sat with me and manicured my nails and no sooner than the polish had had time to dry, Sherry arrived to help Kerry and I to pick out the perfect outfit. We giggled as we looked through the wardrobe, it reminded me of getting ready with my girlfriends to go dancing all those years ago. It was a real girly morning and just what I needed to dispel any pre-wedding jitters.
I felt a million dollars as I entered the reception area of Westhill and to see the look on the faces of my awaiting family was priceless.
The support that I received from the team that morning went above and beyond anything that I could have expected and to think that Zoe would give up her own precious time and dedicate it to making my day so special has blown me away. The team here are more like family to us and they really do go out of their way to make us feel happy. I feel very fortunate to live here.
And in case you are wondering, the wedding was everything I thought it would be and more. I had a truly wonderful day.
