Yew Tree Alpacas is based very near to us in Anstey, it is home to a herd of 40 alpacas and they are wonderful, as are Penny and Steve, their caring owners.
On Monday we visited the farm, 9 residents went along to meet the alpacas and to learn all about them. They are so friendly, we fed them, we petted them and had a lot of fun just watching them go about their business, they were certainly entertaining.
The herd was formed in 2009 from just four alpacas, Joyce, Jessica, Manette and Barbara and it has grown and flourished over the last 13 years. The business has grown too, and they now organise alpaca activities, assist others who are looking to breed these wonderful animals and they also sell alpaca yarn and products made from it.
It really is a wonderful place to visit; Penny and Steve are so knowledgeable and so generous with their time. We learned so much, it was fascinating.
We had fabulous fun with the alpacas, the sky was blue, and everyone was in high spirits. We totally fell in love with these beautiful animals, if there had been any way to smuggle one home with us, we would have.
Our day ended with an ice-cream in the sun with the birds singing all around us, it was just perfect.
