Poetry & Truffles
What’s in a poem? Well, where do I start?
An image of beauty, a tale from the heart
A voyage, a vision of skies that are blue
A passage of intrigue, a clever Haiku
A story of love that could not be returned
A moral, a lesson that never is learned
A Shakespearian sonnet, performed on a stage
A journey of passion from heartache to rage
A question, conundrum, a riddle to answer
A hero, a pauper, a beautiful dancer
A sprinkling of lines, that are short, not excessive.
A tome of emotion, intriguing, oppressive
A thread of hilarity, rhyming and fun
A blanket of daffodils, bathed in the sun.
A moment of peace, enjoyed whilst alone,
A cause for discussion, to praise, or bemoan.
A reason to gather, a passion to share,
A note in a card to show that you care.
A talent to master, to write or perform
A creative endeavour to teach and inform.
So, every week, we grab our books and meet to share our craft
Together in the tearoom, where we chatter, and we laugh
The team provide the tea and treats, and we provide the prose
And week on week our passion for the poetry club grows.
There’s so much going on here, to pick a favourite, I’d have trouble
But it’s hard to beat an afternoon of rhymes and chocolate truffles.
