As a newly opened care home, we have been fortunate to receive visits from many local service providers, keen to meet us and work with us. Our hope is that Glenvale Park will become the heart of the community and we are determined to get to know all who live and work here.
This week we received a visit from the local fire service, initially planned as a one-to-one meeting with Rex, the manager to discuss fire safety guidelines and procedures, it quickly became a full-scale event with residents and team members taking turns to sit in the engine.
We had a lot of fun, firstly we were appreciative to Rex for allowing us to be part of the meeting, it means a lot to us to be involved in the day-to-day running of the home, our home. Secondly, we are so grateful to the firefighters who came along. They went above and beyond, and we learned so much. It was wonderful.
Coincidently, Wednesday 4th May was International Firefighters’ Day, a day to celebrate the risks and the work that firefighters conduct daily to protect the general public. The dedication and sacrifice made by the men and women of the fire service is tremendous and often overlooked.
It was nice to have the guys along to Glenvale Park, it gave us a chance to thank them in person for their service.
