Just up the road from Canterbury House there is a primary school, St Mary of Charity Primary School. Since opening in July we have been very keen to work with them, we have so many plans, but we are waiting for it to be safe to go ahead with them. We are a determined bunch, ask anyone that knows us, we will put our plans into action soon.
Thankfully things have got back to some semblance of normality recently and we have begun planning collaborations with St Mary’s. To begin with we launched an art activity. We asked the children to create autumn and winter themed art and we created our own gallery event.
We were stunned by the quality of the art. We arranged the pictures on the walls of the tearoom, they looked wonderful.
The afternoon was lovely, the kitchen team provided us with some cake, some beer and sparkling wine, and we spent a lovely couple of hours looking at the artwork and discussing our favourites. There are a lot of talented children at St Mary’s Primary.
We are looking forward to being able to take part in lots of fun activities with the children next year, we’d love to visit the school, it would be so interesting to see a modern school, I bet it’s very different to the school we went to.
