Championing Social Care are a volunteer-led group of leaders from across the social care sector. Their vision is to ensure a wider and deeper public understanding, appreciation, and respect for social care. They do not seek to represent the care sector or care workers. Rather, they are focused on delivering positive stories and initiatives about the sector about which we at Halcyon Care Homes care so passionately.
June 27th to July 3rd was Championing Social Care’s annual open week, a week during which care homes up and down the country are invited to open their doors to anyone who is interested in finding out a little bit more about social care.
We opened our doors to the public and hosted a fundraiser to support local sporting charities. At Timken we know the importance of regular exercise, not just for the physical benefits but for mental health too. There are some fabulous charities locally doing amazing things to keep Duston active and to encourage team building and to nurture sporting talent.
We had a great time putting on our very own sports Day. We were delighted to welcome members of the local community into our home to enjoy an afternoon of games and sports, it really brought the community together and gave our residents an opportunity to not only show off their home but also their sporting prowess.
It was a wonderful afternoon, great food, great company and a great boost to all who took part. Community involvement is especially important to everyone here at Timken Grange and we are looking forward to hosting more community events throughout the summer.
