If you have been reading our previous stories you will remember that we held an art competition for the children of Hillocks Primary School. They created some stunning artwork and we have enjoyed seeing it around the home. It reminds us of when our children were young, and we would pin their masterpieces to the walls to admire. Over the years the children grew and had their own little ones, and they, in turn would bring me special pictures and cards that I would proudly display on the fridge door.
This week the children paid us a visit; they came along to the car park to sing some wonderful carols for us. The current guidelines meant that we couldn’t invite them inside which we felt awful about particularly when it began to rain.
The children didn’t seem to mind the weather, in fact it looked as if they quite enjoyed singing to us in the rain. They huddled under umbrellas and sang their hearts out; it was joyous to watch.
We sang along from inside the lounge, waving and smiling at our special guests. Interaction with children brings us a lot of pleasure, we have a lot to learn from one another. It’s bizarre but even though we share the same planet, the world they know is so different to the one we find ourselves in. We have had to adapt and to attempt to embrace technology whereas to them it comes so naturally, they know no different.
We had a lovely time singing with the children, thank you so much for coming along, one day we’ll be able to invite you in again and that will be a very special day indeed.
