Back at the beginning of July we celebrated Championing Social Care Open Week by hosting a very special event.
When we were asked to organise an open day, we decided to make it an open day with a difference and invited visitors to come along and witness our very first “Ready Steady No Cook” challenge.
We all love the show, we never cease to be amazed by the wonderful dishes created from a few simple ingredients, we always have our own ideas, and they are often very good.
Our day started with setting up the dining room, transforming it into our very own TV studio, the tables were set, the ingredients purchased, and the contestants soon took their places to begin the challenge.
It was a truly wonderful day, everyone had so much fun. The contestants were so creative with their ingredients and the spectators were tremendously encouraging.
Championing Social Care open week provides homes like ours an opportunity to show off what we do and demonstrate to those new to care what life inside a residential care home is like.
It was a marvellous day, we even had a visit from ITV News who dropped in to find out more, they chatted with our manager and residents and later that day we made our TV debut.
If you are interested to find out more about Canterbury House, don’t wait for our next open day, give us a call, we’d love to show you around.
