When Corey signed up to take part in a work experience programme at Kingfisher Court, I'm sure that he had no idea how diverse the role of a carer would be. In just one week he has called bingo, played dominoes, served dinner, enjoyed a day out and today he has posed for an art class. We are proud of our team here, the lifestyle manager is so proactive, always looking for new and inventive ways to engage with every resident and the care team are always ready to help him to implement them.
Art class has proved to be a very popular addition to the schedule, there is no pressure to join in, no pressure to create a masterpiece just a relaxed afternoon drawing, chatting and laughing. We have some very talented artists amongst us, we also have some ladies and gents who are keen to learn and then we have those who just come along for the cake and the giggles.
We had a wonderful time drawing Corey, it is the first time we've had the opportunity to draw a model, we felt for him having to wear a mask the whole time but we were a little grateful, it's far easier to draw a mask than a mouth.
