Championing Social Care are a volunteer-led group of leaders from across the social care sector. Their vision is to ensure a wider and deeper public understanding, appreciation, and respect for social care. They do not seek to represent the care sector or care workers. Rather, they are focused on delivering positive stories and initiatives about the sector about which we at Halcyon Care Homes care so passionately.
June 27th to July 3rd was Championing Social Care’s annual open week, a week during which care homes up and down the country are invited to open their doors to anyone who is interested in finding out a little bit more about social care.
At Glenvale Park we hosted a seaside themed summer fayre, it was so much fun. We had fish ‘n’ chips, jumbo sausages, sea food platters, doughnuts, and ice creams all washed down with a mocktail or two. We dipped our feet in the paddling pool and even made sandcastles.
We were entertained by the fabulous Neil Richardson, he was fantastic, we sang, we danced, and we laughed a lot.
We were delighted to welcome visitors into Glenvale Park, it was lovely to have an opportunity to show off to the local community. We are so proud of our home and were overwhelmed by the positive feedback received.
We are a new home, and we are gradually building ties with the local community, we will be hosting many more open days over the coming months, starting with a Strawberry Fayre on the 29th July and spreading the word about how wonderful life is at Glenvale Park.
