No, we haven’t made this up, this is a real thing, April 19th is National Amaretto Day, a day to celebrate this most wonderful almond liqueur.
Amaretto was invented in Italy and has gained popularity all over the world. This liqueur is so versatile; it can be drunk neat over ice, added to cocktails or mixers. It turns an afternoon coffee into a party, and transforms desserts, pastries, sauces, and even savoury dishes into something special.
If you read our blog regularly, you will be aware of our enthusiasm for these national days, every day is a celebration of something new, things that we take for granted, it is nice to be reminded of the all the little things that make life special.
Amaretto reminds us of Christmas, of Italian summers, of family get togethers, with one sip we are transported down memory lane, reliving some of our favourite moments, sharing stories of our adventures.
We celebrated Amaretto Day in true Marham House style, relaxing in the bar, listening to Italian opera, and sipping on Amaretto and coke. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
