Our cinema room is beautiful, it is spacious and modern and the perfect location for many of our activities. We have spent many a happy hour in there, taking afternoon tea, crafting, partying and of course watching films whilst munching on popcorn.
It’s some years since I have been to the cinema, as a teenager it was one of my favourite things to do. Cinemas back then were quite different to the way they are now, today the buildings are far more modern, when I was younger, they were grand and opulent with winding staircases with golden bannisters, they had soaring ceilings with beautiful light fittings and the staff were smartly dressed in uniforms they were proud to wear. It was a wonderful night out.
I think our cinema room is my favourite room at Canterbury House, being in there transports me back in time and reminds me of happy evenings spent transfixed by the latest film with my friends, of romantic dates and birthday celebrations with the children.
This week we were treated to a cinema night to watch the latest James Bond film, the first Bond film, Dr No was released in 1962 and starred Sean Connery who at the time was a little-known actor. I remember it well, it was a fabulous film, full of action and suspense, I have seen it more than once.
The latest film did not disappoint, it had the same level of intrigue and action with a beautifully written plot. We sat back in our chairs, popcorn in hand and enjoyed every minute of it. It was a wonderful night.
