Marham House hopes everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
This year to celebrate Mother’s Day the Lifestyle Team at Marham House Care Home planned a heart-warming and emotional activity, where family members sent in special songs and dedications to their mums. Residents who received dedications from their children were taken into the cinema room to experience a personal and emotional moment, where they had their dedication read out and their special song played, to show how appreciated and loved they were.
These songs sparked wonderful memories and emotions within our residents, reminding them of moments in their life. The reactions of our residents were recorded and then sent to their family members, to make this year’s Mother’s Day as extra special as possible.
One family member sent in a dedication which said, “This sounds a lovely idea, one favourite song would be Dan Cupid has a garden, mum and dad used to sing this during the war.”
Another family member said, “Mum loves Rod Stewart especially when he wears his leopard print pants!”
Comments on social media included “Thank you, we can see the emotion in the lady’s expressions, a lovely way to celebrate Mother’s Day. Well done Jackie and Georgia for making this a special day,”
“This is truly wonderful, thank you so much”.
The rest of the day was spent eating cake and being entertained by a virtual lady sopranos performance.
We would like to thank families of our residents for making this video possible and add what a privilege it was to be able to share this with your Mothers. We had a few tears, some smiles and giggles and our residents loved it.
