We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, music is good for the soul. It is so powerful and can turn a frown upside down. We have music on around Canterbury House all day and it really does lift the spirits. We often have singalongs, and we exercise to popular songs but none of that is quite as good as live music.
The atmosphere when we have musicians in to entertain us is fabulous. It is interesting watching them set up and tune their instruments and it’s wonderful to be able to interact with them.
We had a marvellous duo along this week, Java Jive. They were so endearing and very talented. They brough along a guitar and a violin and played all the old favourites. We couldn’t help but sing along and tap our feet. Their set was interspersed with Christmas classic that had some of us up on our feet dancing.
We always feel so very grateful to the entertainers that visit the home, as you get older the opportunities to see live entertainment become less and less frequent as it becomes more difficult to go out. Having the entertainment come to us is wonderful, no anxiety or worry, no planning or relying on others for transport, we don’t even need a coat.
Thank you, Java Jive, we had a splendid afternoon, come back ad see us again soon.
