Canterbury House opened on Monday 12th July 2021 and our first two residents moved in on the same day. It’s been quite a year, we’ve celebrated so many firsts, our first Halloween, our first firework display, Christmas, New Year, the list goes on.
Over the course of the year, we have grown as a team and as a family, we now have around 40 residents, and the home is buzzing with music and laughter. Friendships have been forged, we’ve been entertained, and we’ve learned new skills and turned a beautiful building into a cosy home. It really has been a fabulous year.
There was no way we could let this anniversary slip by without a huge celebration and so we did what we always do, we threw a party, and it was wonderful. We chose a Hawaiian theme, set up a Tiki bar and filled it with exotic cocktails and snacks.
Family members came along, the mayor attended and took time to meet everyone, chatting and laughing with both residents and team members. We were entertained by the fabulous Peter Kneebone who always brings the fun to every party. The kitchen team did us proud providing a delicious spread and an amazing birthday cake. The weather was perfect, and it really couldn’t have gone any better.
Our first year has flown by and we have had a fabulous time, we are excited to see what next year will bring, watch this space.
