Many of our residents are avid gardeners. We've seen photographs of their gardens and they are pretty impressive. We love to spend summer days outside, weeding and planting and watching our garden take shape.
Unfortunately, whilst we can and do assist those who are less able to access the outside space, many do find it difficult to flex their green fingers. This is where our care manager proved that not all heroes wear capes. There are no problems, only solutions and Louise found our solution by sourcing raised planters, however these are not just any old planters, these are Timken Grange planters, these planters have wheels.
Louise set to work, shopping for tools, compost, seedlings, and plants and then set off visiting every room.
It made a lot of us quite emotional to see the joy on the faces of those who had long given up the idea of gardening. They dug and planted, they watered and pruned, it was an afternoon we won't forget in a hurry.
The team here are so inventive and creative, our residents take part in activities that they would never have dreamed of doing but this idea will go down as one of our best. Louise you are a green fingered, 24 carat genius.
