There are three things in life that always make me feel better: a cup of tea, a chat with a close friends or family and getting my hair done. Today I got to enjoy all three at the simultaneously and I feel on top of the world.
I have always been a fan of the hairdressers. I wouldn’t have missed my appointment for anything. I love everything about it. I would look forward to popping along and catching up with my hairdresser and hearing all her news, I enjoy having someone wash my hair for me, massaging my head as they apply the shampoo and I love that new do feeling. I would feel a million dollars as I stepped back out into the street, fingers tightly crossed that it wouldn’t rain before I was safely back home.
We have a beautiful hairdressing salon here at Layston Grove, it’s so glamourous and chic. Our hairdresser comes in once a week and gives us all the star treatment. We sit back and have our hair washed and conditioned, we are treated to tea and cake, and we engage in a good old-fashioned natter. It’s blissful.
One of the things that I love about this care home is the way in which they strive to enable us to live life just as we did at home. We have the salon; we also have a tearoom and a bar. For those of us that cannot get out as easily as we once could it makes a world of difference to have these facilities in house.
Here I can visit the library, have a posh coffee and a slice of cake, I can sip wine in the bar surrounded by friends, and I can get my weekly hairdressing fix without having to check the weather forecast.
