Have you ever wondered what evenings at a Halcyon care home are like? Then wonder no more. At Hazel End we spend our evenings in a multitude of ways. If we have had a particularly busy day, we enjoy a quiet evening in front of the television with a comforting drink of hot chocolate and a couple of biscuits or a slice of cake; we also enjoy an evening in the bar, watching the sunset from our vantage point at the top of the home, gin and tonic in hand surrounded by great company.
This week we enjoyed a games night, an evening of competitive bowling and skittles. It was so much fun, we held our own tournament and told ourselves it was just a bit of fun whilst concentrating fiercely trying to win. We indulged in wine and beer and there was plenty of tasty treats to keep us fuelled for the competition. We had such a good time, we kept it going for far longer than we had first intended, nobody wanted it to end.
I have made so many friends since moving to Hazel End, I have always been content with my own company, I suppose I’d just got used to it but being here has given me a new lease of life.
It takes a while to adjust to life in a new home and I was concerned initially but it has not taken long to get used to not having to cook or clean or wash or iron, all of my time is my own and I can spend it in any way that I like and I’ll happily take sitting in the garden with a glass of wine surrounded by friends over doing the ironing in front of the television any time.
