In preparation for Remembrance Day Marham House, wanted to work closely with their community and as a result asked both Dunelm in Bury St Edmunds and Howard Community Primary school, to make handmade poppies for the residents display’s inside the home.
At Marham House we want to support in offering financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the British Armed Forces and their families. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions collection pots will not be available however, here at Marham House we will be wearing our poppies in support.
Jackie Mogg, Lifestyle Manager at Marham House, said “It is lovely that the local school has kindly taken up the challenge. Their creations are beautiful. We can see they have put time, effort and thought into them. We are looking forward to when we can have closer links with the school and get together for social events.”
Alison Weir, Acting Headteacher said: “As a school we have a close link with Marham House Care Home, and we encourage our pupils to care for others within their local community.
“This Remembrance Day community project was another opportunity for our children to connect with the residents at Marham House Care Home. This experience brings further meaning to what the children are learning in their lessons whilst also providing a gift to the residents.”
The red poppy is both a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, we at Marham House support this message and are blown away by the incredible displays that have been made for our residents to enjoy.
