We have had a wonderful week, the atmosphere at Kingfisher is so festive. We’ve made cards and decorations, baked Christmas cakes and drank a little too much sherry. This week we ventured out to do a little Christmas shopping.
We had written our lists and checked them twice, then we grabbed our coats and bags and hopped onto the minibus and headed off into town. I love the shops at this time of year, the decorations, the Christmas tunes playing, it’s so special.
I remember before the dawn of internet shopping when the shops would be packed with people this close to Christmas, rushing around trying to find that perfect gift. It is so convenient to be able to have shopping delivered straight to your door, but nothing beats the thrill of browsing the aisles whilst humming along to White Christmas.
We certainly made the most of our trip, we shopped until we dropped then took a well-deserved break in the café. It was tea and cake all round and enjoyed them both whilst sharing our purchases and discussing the bargains we’d picked up.
Before heading home, we took a detour to look at the Christmas lights. Some of the houses were astounding, they must have started decorating in September. It is lovely to see the streets aglow and to appreciate the work that has gone into creating such a sight.
We finally headed home, weary but happy and full of festive cheer, there really is nothing like Christmas is there?
