The last couple of years have been tough for everyone for a myriad of reasons. For us the lack of face-to-face contact with our families was the hardest followed by the lack of opportunities to get out and about in the local community.
We have always enjoyed a wide variety of trips and outings, the cinema, shopping centres, restaurants, the seaside, theatres, places of historic interest and parks. It was a huge part of our lifestyle schedule and we missed it.
Global pandemics aside we are also reliant on the weather, the seaside is pretty in the winter, but you wouldn’t want to spend too much time there in the cold.
The spring weather has finally arrived albeit it sporadic and we have taken full advantage. It felt a little weird to start with, venturing out but the first trip nerves were calmed very quickly when we felt the sun on out faces and could hear the sounds of the birds around us.
This week we went to the park, a small park just around the corner, it was glorious. We walked and walked, and it felt good, we chatted and took in the scenery and then when we had walked as far as we could we sat down to enjoy some well well-earned refreshments.
We are very fortunate to have such wonderful green spaces on our doorstep and we are delighted that this summer we will be able to enjoy them to the full.
